Transforming Sales and Demand Forecasting with Data Driven Insights

Business Requirement

The client, a critical industry information provider in the automotive sector, had an internal sales forecast and analytics tool that needed to be productized for various vehicle manufacturers. The goal was to transform this tool into a market-ready solution that could analyze, simulate, and forecast automotive demand using data driven insights for different manufacturers with a more intuitive and visually engaging interface. The new product required improvements in security, UI/UX, and scalability, while ensuring a seamless user experience for multiple customers.

Business Analysis

Our client needed a solution that could be tailored to each vehicle manufacturer, ensuring that forecasting, simulation, and analytics could be customized for specific needs. Key challenges included optimizing the user interface and user experience, improving security measures, and integrating the tool into a cloud-based architecture to ensure scalability, ease of use, and faster deployment. The solution needed to be highly visualized, allowing users to easily interpret complex data and forecasts for decision-making.

PureSoftware Solution

PureSoftware was chosen as the trusted partner to bring this product to market, and the solution developed leveraged AWS Cloud technologies to deliver a secure, scalable, and customizable application. A single-tenant, web-based application was created with integrated OKTA authentication to ensure secure user access, while separate AWS Cloud instances were set up for each client, allowing for easy customization and scalability. To streamline future updates and deployments, Terraform scripts were used for automating the AWS deployment process. Additionally, encryption and AWS KMS (Key Management System) were implemented to securely generate keys for each client, ensuring encrypted data access, while AWS VPC (Virtual Private Cloud) created a highly secure network, ensuring complete data privacy and isolation. UI/UX improvements were made using the Angular library, resulting in a more intuitive and visually engaging interface. CI/CD pipelines were established to automate testing and deployment, which allowed for faster feature rollouts, and disaster recovery and business continuity features were implemented to ensure uninterrupted service and protect against data loss.

The new application integrated operative, tactical, and strategic planning assumptions for forecasting, considering both internal and external market intelligence, and incorporated global vehicle and powertrain assumptions, including OEM line-ups and timing information.

It also enabled sales market volume forecasts, along with historical sales data, providing clients with the tools to accurately predict future demand and adjust their production plans accordingly.

A single-click automated deployment process was established, significantly speeding up feature rollouts and updates.
