The client, a UK-based Fortune 500 insurance giant, operates in 19 markets across Asia and Africa with regional headquarters in Hong Kong. They faced significant challenges due to the large amount of unstructured and semi-structured insurance data from multiple markets that was disconnected and difficult to manage.
The inconsistency in their technology stack across different markets further compounded the problem. To remain competitive and leverage their data for better decision-making, the client required a centralized data strategy that could standardize and streamline their data management processes across all regions.
PureSoftware was engaged to conduct a thorough analysis of the client’s requirements and existing data infrastructure. The analysis revealed the critical need for a centralized data repository that could accommodate diverse data formats and sources from various markets. PureSoftware’s team recognized the importance of not only integrating the data but also ensuring its governance, privacy, and accessibility.
The solution needed to address the non-uniform technology stack and provide a scalable and secure platform for data management. Key areas identified for intervention included data governance, data engineering, and the implementation of advanced analytics to extract meaningful insights from the data.
PureSoftware partnered with the client as a strategic ally in their data transformation journey. The solution involved building a centralized set of Data Lakes at the regional level, incorporating robust Analytics, Data Governance, and Data Privacy layers. This centralized data repository was designed to streamline data management and enhance data accessibility across all 19 markets.
A crucial component of the solution was the development and rollout of the mobile app ‘One Pulse,’ which served as the primary data source. This app was deployed across all markets in Asia and Africa, ensuring consistent data collection and entry. To handle the real-time data streaming needs, Confluence Kafka was used, enabling efficient and reliable data transfer.
PureSoftware established a Data Governance Center of Excellence (CoE) for the client, which included a dedicated team of seven Collibra engineers, Data Quality service desk engineers, Data Privacy engineers, Business Analysts, and Project Managers. In addition, a 20-member team of core data engineers was deployed to manage and maintain the data infrastructure.
